How do safety switches (RCDs) work?
A safety switch or RCD (residual current device) will automatically shut off the electricity when a current is detected leaking from faulty switches, wiring or appliances. RCDs are your insurance against electric shock and designed to prevent serious injuries and even death.
Under Queensland legislation, a licensed electrical contractor must install the RCD. If you would like to organise this installation or a safety inspection of your current safety switchboard, please call us on 0401 979 388.
It is extremely important to invest in a quality safety switch, which is designed to prevent an electric shock. Electrical Safety Regulations require all owners and landlords must have a safety switch installed.
